Hey all,

New to this community so I figure I'd introduce myself.

I find the only fitting name to myself is Gentle Giant, because I am a taller, chunkier man, who thinks hurting others should be a last resort. I have drawn lots of inspiration to my desire to serve good from many things. I know it may seem typical that I get hyped from certain movies and comics, but I have always felt a need to do good in my life. Whether it is helping the old lady at the store get something off the top shelf, or ensuring justice lives through the night, I have always dreamed of doing good. I may not have much experience aside from being used to hand to hand punishment, but my heart is in the right place.

I look forward to being a member of the superhero community and asking advice on the means to get suited up and serve my locale.

For the most part, if you're doing community service, you don't really need much in the way of an outfit, gimmick, uniform, costume, etc. If you want to get your name out there as someone the people can rely on, there are plenty of people on here who are willing to help you put something together, or you could design something yourself. Of course - and this is not a joke, - business cards are a great way to legitimize yourself.

As your introduction doesn't make it seem like you'll be doing much confrontation of violent criminals, this post won't include discussion about weapons or martial arts, though it's still a good idea to have some legal form of both. However, if the neighborhoods bad enough, you still might want to consider investing in some protective gear, like a bulletproof vest.

Know your area, know yourself, know your goal, and always have at least one plan, if not several contingencies. A lot of RLSH go around with rolling ice-chests, so they can hand out cold drinks in the Summer. Some have even discussed taking a crock-pot full of soup with them in the Winter, so they can serve soup to the homeless. Whatever it is you're doing, you don't want to be caught in a situation where you feel like you can't do anything at all. Luckily, it's probably a safe bet that you have most of what you need in your own home, and can get whatever else you need for a reasonable price.

I don't really see myself doing much of the community service thing, but it's never out of the picture. While I feel violence should be the last resort, I am not opposed to using it, so I feel self-defense is vital. I just feel that everyone should be given a fair warning before apprehension should occur. I do see myself confronting violent criminals, but I believe they should be given the option to stop what they are doing before engaging in any combat or violence.

I have costume, protective gear, etc. in mind, just got to figure out some of the legality of such, as well as where to find materials I can make a costume out of, seeing shopping is difficult for me because big and tall are the only things that fit me.
