| So, me and my friend were discussing rlsh names the other day, and then I heard that apparently one rlsh had named themselves Captain Britain. This probably is just me ranting, but I am extremely annoyed by that. It's mainly the Captain bit. To give yourself a Military rank! (I'm aware Captain isn't restricted to military)
Every time I hear an rlsh having named themselves captain whatever or colonel [insert name here] I want to punch them in the face.
Am I just making a big deal out of probably nothing?

Am I just making a big deal out of probably nothing? Captain Britain was a comic book character. Some one is asking for a trademark infringement lawsuit.

| What I hate is when someone creates a name and comes on for the sole purpose of coming on here to tell RLSH what they're doing wrong.

Major Captain Admiral General Gadgetastic Wait, you think I just came on here just to criticise something I find annoying? And I didn't say they were doing anything wrong, I mentioned iit becuase I find it irritating.

| Starman, it is clear from your post that you do think it is wrong for one to give themselves a rank which they haven't earned. It's disingenuous to backtrack now and say that's not what happened, especially the viewpoint you expressed is perfectly valid (even if your expression of it wasn't entirely tactful). I don't agree with your opinion on this issue, as the names aren't mean to denote an official rank or impersonate a military officer, and I don't understand your violent tendencies toward the people who choose such names. I think most here would find that opinion unreasonable and emotionally immature. | |

| Yes, in all seriousness now, presentation is key. I'm sure many members would love to discuss the idea of using ranks as part of their names, we could even learn why those have done it chose to do so. For all we know that could be a legitimate rank they do hold somewhere. I think it could be a fun little discussion/debate.
However if you approach something with hostility you will often be met with hostility in return. Something to keep in mind for the future when an opinion is shared for the purpose of starting a discussion.

| I wasn't angry. More amused than anything else. I guess my point is that something like that should not have been your first post. Perhaps lead in with something less combative. What you did, if I am to visualize it, was kick open the door and waggle a finger at us. We're there looking at this total stranger in our house thinking, "what the hell?"
I appreciate you following it up with a calm clarification though. Others in the same situation have gotten immediately counter aggressive and it usually devolved in a d--- measuring contest.
So... not harm done. Water under the bridge. Welcome!

| Can we get back to maybe being angry at crime, terrorism, poverty, animal abuse, carbon emissions, unfree internet and corporate personhood? Because there's a lot in the world to be angry about besides some silly name someone calls themselves.
And yes, I do realize this is a hypocritical post having just made an epic twitter rant against iOS 5, but it seriously sucks.

As a Canadian I would like to formally apologize to all of you for being from the country that released this upon the world. I feel partially to blame for some reason.
