two things about the coffee, SH:

its a duiretic, meaning it inhibits the hormone that tells your kidneys to stop filtering the water out of your blood- so you pee a lot of your water out. same thing happens with alcohol.

might be why youre tired, big guy. just make sure youre not wholly making your fluid intake from coffee. i try and get a lot of water when i'm drinking too much bean juice.

also, i have seen the occasional article in mens health where caffiene has shown to improve endurance since it has a slight pain blocking effect.

I must chime in here.

"Tired" can come from several sourses.

1. sleep-deprivation
2. dehydration
3. exhaustion - a.k.a. full caloric expenditure

Really, there are, almost, no other sourse.

Even "sickness" is just the immune system wanting calories to do it's job.

I learned that, if one eats 4000 extra calories in one day,
one can stave off pending "sickness".
I have used this information, to great effect, many times since I learned it.

To chaulk up "tired" to emotion or to treat it vaugely wastes valuable time.

Also, a study showed that coffee/tea/caffiene-in-liquid-delivery-systems do not dehydrate
because liquid is being put in enough to make the effects nil.

Caffiene tablets dehydrate.

The dehydrating effect of alcohol is different
because it is far more poisionous to the systems and the body works much harder to take it out.

While it is very wise to exercise great caution when extracting info from magazines,
this - from Men's Health - is rather on-track.

Mostly, the stimulant effect pushes one beyond the point of caring about pain
and the lifted heart and breathing rates do that pain-suppression anyway.

ug. and don't let me forget this ignored and
not-understood detail:

eating ANY carbs on an empty stomach
causes a chain reaction in brain chemistry that makes
a person sleepy.

I recommend eating something that is fat or protein,
waiting exactly ten minutes and then, eating carbs.

It's not worth the time to be that sleepy out of squence

I think the standard approach to phrasing would be like "you enjoy living a healthy lifestyle" or somesuch.

Coffee to replace food? Pshaw. It replaces sleep.

I would think that moderation in any area would be the wise choice.

I used to drink a lot of beer and smoke cigars when I was a crazy frat boy, back in the day, but after awhile the beer started to make me chubby and the good Cuban cigars kept getting more and more expensive...so I cut both of 'em way down to the point where a nice Cohiba might cross my path once a year and the drinking is well under control.

Coffee on the other hand! I love coffee! Try not to drink more than two cups a day not through even though I know I would enjoy drinking more Smile

coffee never replaces sleep.

Sleep-deprivation causes huge and myriad problems
and is never to be treated with hilarity.
Problem one
is
DRIVING DEATH TO SELF AND OTHERS

either and
I question that anyway.

I find people who think that burning starts when the food hits the mouth
AND people will publish with that sort of info.

Even if I eat a load of jelly beans so that I can get a pile of work done,
it takes 1.5 hours before the burn starts.

Even if I eat a load of oatmeal to get a pile of work done,
it takes 1.5 hours until the burn starts.

MANY things are not settled and need funding for more study.

One, BIG missing piece is the understand of the CHAIN REACTIONS of brain-chemistry
that are TOTALLY NOT the burning of just-consumed calories

"Moderation" is a decent thing to say if you don't bother to study and I understand
that not every one love the subject matter as much as I do
but
it just doesn't spread the simple information about what each chemical actually does in the body.

MOST of what people think about food is kindegarden-level drivel.
Don't you know how I worry??!?!?!?!?

You may have two cups AM and two cups six hours later without ill effects

example:

Breakfast-lunch-dinner

it STOOOOOPID!!!!!!

The body does notcare what you think or say.
It does what it dose every night and day.

ANY thing that you eat, except excess fat, is burnt
or stored in four hours.
Excess fat cannot be absorbed, rolls around in the blood stream,
interacts with the oxygen, turns foamy,
imbeds in the walls of the blood vessels and causes heart attack and stroke.
PREVENTABLE PROBLEMS

I don't want to read any of your stupitity about chocolate and cheese dammit!!!

You have, hereby, been informed dammit!

Most shop-lifting happens between 3- and 6 in the afternoon
and most men steal food
because

people insist on WORSHIPPING the STOOOOPID idea of Breakfastlunchdinnner!!!!

dammit!

the comsumption of most illicit substances
INCLUDING the rotted liquids called "alcohol"
is a result of not having FOOD

Worship of and reverence for these substances,
including tobacco,
is pathetic.

Don't you know how I worry!?!?!?!?!

Wow Flora thanks for all the advice!

I quit smoking which was just awesome - and very difficult - so advice for those wishing to quit it will be a rough road but once done you will never go back!

WHEW!, Girl! YES!

It is not joke but worth it all the way!!

I know one man who didn't start until he was 40.
I WILL tackle him and rip them away from him
and he knows it.

He said that it was too much hanging around the comedy clubs and breathing second-hand smoke.

DOES HE KNOT KNOW HOW I WORRY!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

Good stuff. One correction, alcohol is not a sugar. It is produced from sugar, by yeast, during alcoholic fermentation.

when it gets to the blood stream, it is not a fat or a protein

it is a carbohydrate which I, flippantly, refer to as
'sugar'

Sugar works fine.
Cause it drops my Blood Sugar when I was drinking and then it knocks it through the damn roof after it has time to process.

I've had a 732 BS off of too much beer several years ago.

Alcohol is not a fat or a protien or nothing.

There are differences in sugars and
honey, pasta and bread don't get you drunk

but ANY sugarish substance will never be a fat a protien or nothing
