I understand the need for physical skills. . .and mental skills in preforming any job. . .or function. . .public speaking is just as necessary in today's environment. . .no matter how old you are. . .or how established you are. . .you need to understand the importance of speaking to others. . .the language you use. . .the comfort level. . .the professionalism. . .it all plays into how you are perceived and accepted. . .even if you hide in the shadows. . .you still need this skill. . .when you are trying to discover the facts. . .discover the truth. . .investigating the way ahead. . .you need to clearly state what you mean. . .get the point across to many types of groups. . .or individuals. . .think about those you respect. . .those that get a point across that makes you want to step up. . .leaders learn their whole lives to improve on skills in many areas. . .they do not settle for knowing enough. . .you are the center of an individual circle of influence. . .in your role. . .people are looking at you. . .observing you. . .how you carry yourself. . .how you handle yourself. . .how you speak to others. . .even small things can have a great impact on others. . .learn to speak out. . .it's not funny when you cannot connect to those that need your help. . .or those you need help from. . .the use of language is vital to your mission. . .whatever it is. . .for those that look up to seals. . .or rangers. . .or police or fire. . .they train in public speaking and they hold that training as important as stealth or shooting. . .it all plays into a successful mission. . .

Aside from the "Kirkspeak", I'd say you're an effective communicator yourself

That may be part of the strategy with his communication... pauses between smaller segments of a message make it easier to remember and internalize.

He doesn't speak like that in person.
