| There are some skills that are so useful they have often been represented as "powers" of their own. Medicine, engineering, finance, computer sciences. Most of these take years of dedication to be initiated into an approved practicing community in order to use these skills properly. This may be the reason there are few doctors or lawyers online claiming to be superheroes. Being removed from these approved bodies can often make practicing your chosen skill set illegal. What are the skills or abilities, natural or trained that set you apart? | |

| The term, ‘POWERS’ is actually a fantasy created word, associated with the adjective, ‘Super’.
Okay, okay… now that the geek inside me is done (sorry), let’s address this.
Look, I know what you mean, what you are basically asking is, “What are our skills and talents?”. Here’s my response, SAVAGE…
You have yet to tell us anything about you. I have asked multiple times. I would love to know more about the person that has created such an intriguing ripple in this community. It would help to minimize speculation and assumptions, as well as invite us into a little more of your ‘person’. In fact, I think it would actually be cool.
Who are you, Savage? Where are you from? What are your skills and talents? What drew you to this community? What would you like to get out of it? Who are your influences?
What do you consider yourself (Hero, Anti-Hero, or Vigilante)? I notice you have the title ‘Crime Fighter’ as your Category. | |

| I agree it would be fair to tell us something about yourself before asking us all the questions you have raised. If you are unwilling to share, how can you expect it of others? | |

| I thought this was an open forum that allowed is to say and not say freely whatever we choose. If you were actively being sought out by a group of hostile agitators seeking to discredit and alienate you what information would you share? So lets keep the forum posts on topic if we could. Thanks. | |

| Could you break down the sub sets of skills that fall under firefighting? I know physical fitness would be a prerequisite. I am talking more about mentally and physically developed disciplines that a layman could not just pick up and do. Like knowledge of the behavior of fire under various conditions, and current knowledge and working use of the most modern fire fighting equipment. Stuff the layman would not be able to do using the instructions and 15 mins of prep. | |

| Wow, something with substance. I stand amazed sir. Many useful skills here. Lets move all equipment use skills to the bin, replaced with a singular firefighting equipment use for the sake of brevity. Remove anything that isn't fire fighting specific. A very strong skill set.

| Knowledge of Weapons of Mass Destruction can be handy too, particularly in this day and age. Firefighters became a lot more terrorism-aware after 9/11. Firefighters do everything from rescuing the occasional kitten out of a tree all the way to protecting a population from radioactive nuclear fallout. |

| I hear that in any situation with significant danger firefighters are unlikely to be exposed to injury based on the fact that they have significant oversight and policy preventing the heroic dashing into the fire and saving people many imagine, that in the eyes of many firefighters prevent them to be able to exhibit true heroism, and that a more contemporary image might be fire containment specialists that from a safe perimeter work from outside the scene. Preventing the spread of fire. Is this a misconception? | |

Yes and no. Occupants are always the first priority; this is determined through a variety of ways; chief among them of course is whether or not there's any cars in the driveway or lights on in the house. In some situation where the structure has become Fully Engaged, it would be suicide to go inside; even getting too close to it would burn the skin off your face. When the fire's too big to fight, all we can do is let it burn. Some fires are impossible to fight; trying to do so would just be a colossal waste of time, money and energy. Possibly life. In those cases all we can do is establish a perimeter to make sure the situation doesn't get any worse. Sucks having to just sit back and watch, but running in would be the equivalent of jumping out of an airplane without a parachute to save someone who fell out without a parachute; there's just no point. |

| Correction: WE are the first priority. The second priority is occupants. The third priority is property. |

| "Beware of he who takes and does not give.
Trust not the one who offers falsehoods in exchange for the truth; you will always find yourself on the losing part of the deal."
This pretty much sums up SAVAGE. This is a community based upon giving and taking; sharing. What you are asking, many in this community are willing to share, but it is the price that has now become the issue.
Your pay is in rudeness, when the answer is something you do not agree with. Your responses are TACTLESS, when a return question is asked. Your retorts are scrambled comments embedded with more staggered questions in order to push others towards your conspiracies.
When all else fails…
You whine and run (usually after name-calling).
SAVAGE, make up your mind as to what you want to do and be, when it comes to this community. Step up, hold your chest out, and say it. Stop slinking in the grass, sucking your teeth, and looking for the smallest reasons to be a dolt with no depth.
Others have asked you questions and they have held out their hands in friendship. You came to this house, this house did not drag you into it.
Take a little time to answer the questions that have been asked of you, instead of taking, and taking, and taking.
After-all, how can ANYONE become your friend, if they never get to know you?
