Preparation for patrol?

I won't go out on patrol for a while yet, but I was wondering what EXACTLY to look out for and what should I take? And carry it in.

It depends upon what you are going for, however think on the utility rather than combatability.

You are as much a good neighbor as you are a crimefighter, personally two of the things I would refuse to leave without are a first aid kit, and duct tape. A flashlight is a must if you're patrolling at night. Also, carry dog/animal treats in a sealed bag or container.

Essentials: Cell phone, flashlight, first aid kit (a good one).

Are you walking or driving?

I will be walking. And I will bring dog treats I will also need my bag it seems

This is more something I like to bring since it can be suprisingly useful...but...bring a rope, and learn knotting.

I'm serious there are so many situations I can think of where a rope would be quite useful.
