PostSubject: Bruce Lee's Diet   Bruce Lee's Diet Icon_minitime1Sun Jul 29, 2012 1:32 pm

This kind of goes in hand with the Bruce Lee strength training thread. Take a look at this sample of Lee's diet plan. Let me know your thoughts.

  • Food: A bowl of muesli cereal, comprised of whole grains, nuts, and dried fruits, plus 2% milk (semi skimmed).
    Beverage: Orange Juice and/or tea.

Snack
  • Juice or Protein Drink: Protein powder, non-instant powdered milk made with water or juice, eggs, wheat germ, bananas, peanut butter. Brewer’s yeast was frequently added.

Lunch
  • Food: Meat, vegetables, and rice.
    Beverage: Tea.

Snack
  • Juice or Protein Drink: see ingredients for morning-snack protein drink.

Dinner
  • Food: Spaghetti and salad, or another meal of rice, vegetables, and meat, chicken, or seafood.

Sounds about right. That's a real basic breakdown. There's a lot of detail and specifics in the chapter Feeding The Dragon in The Art of Expressing The Human Body. He drank A LOT of juice too. He loved his juicer.

I love cheese. But I'm sure Bruce lee had his reasons. I wish I was back down to 5% body fat like I used used to be.

No matter what you eat, the body burns, excretes or stores
everything but excess fat after four hours.

So, we need to eat every four hours.
Maybe you can't but your body doesn't care.

too much protein is bad and so is too little.

So, the answer is - exact protein every four hours.

"low fat" is always the way
and
we burn ABOUT 100 calories an hour of carbs for the BRAIN.

So, what ever you choose as details,
the over-view of what the body needs
is:
exact protien, low fat and about 400 ( or more ) calories of carbs

we thank my, many, teachers

It isn't just protein that causes gout.

Over-intake of protein is not stored.
The kidneys remove it and it makes the kidneys sad and mad.

potatoes, rice, pasta

all do the same thing and are all about the same calories.

The only difference in the gluten in the pasta that makes people puffy ( not fat, puffy )

I find it really irritating that you ask everyone overly technical questions yet when you explain anything it's in very child like terms, like we''re all too stupid to understand what you're saying, and we need to be talked down to.

Main reason why I refuse to listen to you.

well, tantrums and sticking your nose in the air is a very WONDERFUL way to absorb info.

The answers do not need to be complex.

Please, state the "overly-technical" questions that I asked

Flora, could you explain that last sentence. What are exact proteins? What do you consider low fat? Not trying to be tricky, just curious Smile

good questions

precise protein is to figure what you need
and get exactly that every four hours - out side of sleep

low fat is about 100-300 calories of fat per meal

OK . . . but I'm not going to let you off the hook, yet Smile

How does one figure out the amount of precise protein they need exactly every four hours outside of sleep?

PostSubject: Re: Bruce Lee's Diet   Bruce Lee's Diet Icon_minitime1Tue Jul 31, 2012 4:02 pm

EXCELLENT question!

The questions ARE predictable
and I LOVE seeing that your mind
can tell where to go!!!

You can see on-line how to calculate
by body weight but they for get to tell
you that it must be by LEAN body weight.

So, the answer is between 22 and 32 grams of protein per MEAL.

Start with 25 and see if you can get it all down
or if you, mostly, end up at 22 or 30.

...about the same size serving as a chicken breast or 2,3 thighs
or about an average steak
or a big bowl of beans
or, if you choose nuts of any sort, enough nuts so that you get WAY too much fat at once

or three yogurts.

Now, what happens next is that you, maybe, and people reading this
will be happy with the meat and bean info and, even,
be able to understand the info about nuts

but WILL FREAK OUT WHEN THEY READ "THREE YOGURTS"

which is where many brains go and is not ok.

It is not ok to be THAT stupid.

It's just protein in your body
and leaning that the cup that is sold to you
is the way that your brain should go
is lemmingish

PostSubject: Re: Bruce Lee's Diet   Bruce Lee's Diet Icon_minitime1Tue Jul 31, 2012 8:39 pm

Flora . . . OK, I have to ask.

My lean body fat is 172 lbs. I eat about 6 meals daily.

So, according to your calculations (and I'm going to round to whole numbers):

- I should eat 172g/protein a day (or about 29g/protein per meal per your post). That comes to about 690 calories/protein a day.
- I should eat 400 calories/carbs a day per your post
- I should eat about 1,150 calories of fat per day (or 130 calories of fat per meal per your post).

That's around 2,300 calories per day (which sounds about right). But it also breaks down to about this:

- 20% from carbs
- 30% from protein
- 50% from fats

That's a lot of fats in one's diet, isn't it?

fat 130 x 6 = 780 calories from fat not 1150

it is easy a prudent to go a little bit lower in fat

protein is not burned as a fuel
and, in my professional opinion should not be counted as a calorie.

Have you eaten with this configuration yet?
I shall suggest that you try for 25 GRAMS ( not calories )
of protein per meal.
I would love to hear how you feel after eating this for a few days.

We burn ABOUT 100 calories per HOUR in carbs.
Therefore, it is prudent to consume about 400 calories of carbs PER MEAL

No.
This is why:

"Precise Protein" DRASTICALLY affects the
brain chemistry of dork-cravings of the RELIGION of
Eating CHOCOLATE and the BIG BAD problem
of Alcoholism.

The problems are NOTHING but a mismanagement of
protein-intake.

The brain ONLY burns carbs and you can't store carbs
as carbs.

Misunderstanding of carbs is WAY bad for the brain.

Flora,

You're right . . . 400 calories isn't a lot for carbs. I was thinking 400 g/carbs per meal. Now that's a lot. But that's not what you were saying.

I'm with you now.

I'll give this all a whirl.
